About Us
Ian Lockwood was brought up on Springfield farm and is now a third generation farmer. Ian manages the farm full time and is truly passionate about his job and dedicated to maintaining healthy, happy livestock. Ian is always accompanied by his collies Tyler, James Herriot and new puppy Violet.
Ian's wife, Sharminda, a local vet, also helps with the farm. She is also passionate about farming. She has settled in to farming life easily and takes parts in all aspects from lambing to plucking turkeys. Ian and Sharminda's three daughters thoroughly enjoy farm life, helping to round the turkeys up at night and feed them.
Our mission
Quite simply, to rear healthy, happy animals, to a high welfare standard. This practice should ensure quality meat from any of the animals reared on our farm. All our animals are reared free range so they have the freedom to express their normal behaviour and also reflecting our motto "Pure and simple, grass and time".
We take health and welfare very seriously, so for example are animals are vaccinated and wormed appropriately to prevent disease. All our animals are checked daily and we believe tender lover and care will produce quality animals.
The enviroment
While we're doing all of this to get the delicious produce to your table, we're not forgetting the consequences of our actions. We farm with the environment in mind and are involved in agri-environment schemes such as Entry level and Higher Level Environment schemes. This has led to increased populations of key species such as Dormice, Buzzards and Orchids. These schemes strive to enhance and maintain the natural habitat around us, while maintaining food production. Above all, we think it's fair to say that we love what we do. And we take it very seriously. We hope that our passion might just inspire you to try farm produce, fresh from the farm gate, reducing food miles and packaging. We know once you do you won't go back.
